Friendship.  It is something everypony needs in his or her life, but you have to make it happen—plant a seed, nurture it, grow it, maintain it, and keep it alive. Then, if we accept each other wholeheartedly and maintain harmony between us, that friendship is magic!  At least it is according to Princess Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, AppleJack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, and Fluttershy.

Twilight Sparkle

Princess Twilight Sparkle has a love of learning unmatched in Equestria.  She is a natural leader, a patient friend, an obsessive organizer, and an avid reader.   As a young filly in Canterlot, she was chosen by Princess Celestia to study the highest form of magic as the Princess' apprentice. Seeing Twilight value knowledge over friends, the Princess sent Twilight to Ponyville to learn the magical properties of friendship. Because Twilight not only mastered magic, but also created magic of her own through such friendship, she has been bestowed with wings and the title PRINCESS TWILIGHT SPARKLE.

Elements of Harmony:  Princess Twilight Sparkle represents the Element of Magic.

Fluttershy is a natural beauty with gentle, serene ways. Despite her shy and unassuming nature, Fluttershy has a unique gift with animals. Her sweetness and sincerity can charm every animal, from tiny woodland creatures to the most powerful of mythical beasts, making her a valuable asset to her friends in all their adventures.  While she lacks confidence, she has an inner strength that comes out when others are in trouble. Fluttershy has a lot of fears to overcome, but one day her strength of character and enormous heart will make her a force to be reckoned with.

This hardworking Earth Pony is family-oriented and always ready to help anyone from Granny Smith to her little sister, Apple Bloom. Incredibly honest, Applejack would never stoop to telling a lie. However, her honesty and practicality keeps her from being as sensitive to others’ feelings as she could be, despite her best intentions.  Although Applejack can be a bit set in her ways, her friends know they can always count on this trustworthy pony to come through for them.

Her gorgeous designs are displayed at Ponyville’s newest fashion salon, the Carousel Boutique. My Little Pony History

Why my little pony?

Rainbows, unicorns, fairy tales, hearts, stars, cupcakes, and, of course, pretty pastel ponies. Adults look at these things and automatically think fantasy and pretend play -- but not kids. Children believe unicorns are noble beasts that bring beauty to the world, magical creatures are lovely and terrifying and the world they live in is one of wonder that has no bounds, fairy dust is a powerful substance, and the smallest, most helpless creatures can be your strongest support group if shown enough love. A child believes something as simple as a cupcake can bring two people together in the bonds of friendship and a giggle is a welcome mat or a warm handshake. Children who know the magic of friendship can give us everything we ever hoped for, if only we give it the reverence it deserves.

While the word family means different things to different people, we can all agree that a family loves and supports one another unconditionally. That’s why parents connect so deeply to the bonds among Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, and the rest of the ponies in Equestria. Though My Little Pony rests comfortably in the realm of fantasy, parents can rest assured that even the most perilous situations that the characters may find themselves in can always be solved by a nonviolent resolution. The solutions are always clear, clever, and positive.
